Magical Sweets: Volume 1

~Opening Ceremony! 



The sky was kissed with shades of orange. Today was the last day of summer vacation in Midorikawa, Japan. In particular there were five young ladies at the playground gazing up at the beautiful sunset that bestowed upon them. As they continued looking at the beautiful sky from the highest part of the jungle gym, Nagisa turned to her friends with a huge grin adorn on her lips. The twins: Ayame and Kaname jumped slightly seeing Nagisa turn so suddenly to them. Yui looks up at the sky and laughs to herself:



Yui: Can you guys believe it? We're starting high school tomorrow...

Nagisa: Why do you think I'm so excited? This a like a whole new adventure! *squeals in delight*

Kaname: More hard work and annoying teachers. I just hope none of our homeroom teachers are jerk faces like
they were in middle school!

Yui: Oh yeah, I almost forgot the entry exams were pretty tough and Nagisa got a seventy *friendly teases*

Ayame: A seventy? That's not a big deal, I saw ten times worst!

Nagisa: WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT MY ENTRY EXAM SCORE ?! *gets angry and flusters*

Kaname: Don't worry about it Nagi-chan, a seventy is passing score even a sixty-five would have gotten you a pass.
That doesn't matter now, we all get to go to Midorikawa High together!



The three girls nodded in agreement to Kaname's words. Nagisa turned to see their other friend Ritoru was being ultra spacey and continued to gaze at the orange sky. Yui reaches over and pokes her shoulder to get her attention. The pink hair girls turns to them and rubs her nape, she didn't means to space out on the conversation. The four girls were curious to what she was thinking about, Ritoru sighed and kicked her legs slowly. Ayame became worried and began to question her if she was okay, of course she was but...what she wanted to say was rather stupid in her opinion. Nagisa leaned in closer and nudges her cute little face on her best friend's groaning "Tell us Ritters!" The pink hair girls sighed and laughs awkwardly:



Ritoru: Well since it's the start of  "new" adventure for all five of us, I'm just scared I'll lose my friends.
High school changes people...who knows what'll happen to us! 

Yui: Ritoru-chan, why would you say something like that? We've been friend since elementary school. *sighs*

Nagisa: Yu is right, nothing happened then and nothing will happen now!

Ritoru: I-I guess you both are right...I'm just nervous!

Ayame: Being nervous is normal, we are slowly becoming adults...after high school we set out for college!

Kaname: Sissy, I don't think that was necessary to say... *sweats drops*

Ritoru: Don't worry about it, we'll eventually have to start our own lives. Until then, I want to keep making
fun and new memories with you guys!

Yui: Couldn't have said it better myself! Whoa, look at the time! *holds up phone*



The five girls look at Yui's phone and saw that it was getting late. Nagisa jumped down from the jungle gym waving good bye and dashed out the park as fast as she could. The twins climb down together also, waved goodbye and walked home holding each other's hand. Ritoru and Yui decided to make their way home too, since they're neighbors and long time friend it gave them time to talk more a little about what they thought would happen tomorrow. Once the two girls made it to their neighborhood, they could see their moms talking with one another on Ritoru's porch. The girls greeted their mothers with hugs, Yui's mom kissed her forehead and told her dinner was ready and that Ritoru's family was having dinner with them tonight. Yui smiled brightly and drags Ritoru with her, she hope they were having barbecue beef on the grill tonight. When they got into Yui's house, the tabled was set and Mr. Fujibayashi had the Hibachi plate heating up. Yui's pink eyes turned into huge stars as she muttered the word steak. Mr. Fujibayashi looks at the two and hugged them both, Ritoru was like a second daughter to him since the girls have been friend since they we very young. Ritoru hugs her "second" father in return and asked:



Ritoru: Hey Fuji-papa, what's all the food for? This is way more than the last dinner we ate together!

Mr. Fujibayashi: It's a celebration dinner! You two are starting high school in the morning and we want to celebrate.
We bought all your favorite desserts too..well not all. 

Yui: OH WOW!, IS IT THE STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE AND VANILLA CUSTARD SWEET BUNS!? *gets excited*

Mr. Fujibayashi: Maybe, But you're not allowed in the kitchen this time little lady...last time
you found out what dessert we had, you ate some before dinner!

Yui: Hehe, I'm sorry dad...uh, is the food ready yet?!

Ritoru: You're always so excited when it comes to food, especially sweets. *laughs*

Yui: Because, sweets is the key to happiness. Nothing can top dessert!



Yui's father laughs at her comment and told them that they should wash for dinner. Ritoru and Yui ran upstairs to wash their hands, when they got to the top Yui's older brother jumps out at them. The two screamed, her big brother was such a jerk! The young man ran his fingers though his visual kei styled hair and laughed at the two girls reaction to him. Yui gets angry and yells at the top of her lungs "RANMARU, WHY ARE YOU SUCH A JERK!?" Ranmaru sighs leaning against the wall, it wasn't his fault they kept fall for his scare tactics. Ranmaru pats Ritoru's head and head downstairs, Yui pouts and mutters "why is my brother nicer to you than he is to me?" Ritoru shrugs and tells her that's how it is with siblings. Once the girls finish washing their hands they head back downstairs and sat down together. Mr. Inoguchi came inside with a bottle of sake from a winery, Yui's dad shouts in happiness and points at the bottle. The girl looked at each other and shrugged, it seems like whatever was in the bottle their dads loved it. Both the Inoguchi and Fujibayashi family sat down and enjoyed the barbecue beef and other food prepared for the celebration dinner. After forty-five minutes to an hour everything was cleaned up. The girls parents were chatting and laughing in the living room while Yui and Ritoru were stuffing their faces with desserts. Ritoru laughed since Yui's guess was correct, the desserts were strawberry cheesecake and vanilla custard buns! Ritoru leans back in the chair and sighs, she was really curious what high school would be like. Yui turned her head and pats her friend's shoulder, she tells her that shouldn't think too much into it and just worry about getting to opening ceremony in the morning. Once the girls finished their dessert, Mrs. Inoguchi came into the kitchen and told her daughter to get ready to go home and get a goodnight's rest.

Ritoru responded to her mother and hugs Yui goodnight. Ritoru ran next door to her house and went upstairs getting all her books, pencil, spare erasers and other important things for school in the morning. Her father pops into the room with her new school uniform on a hanger and hangs it on the hook, she turns and stares in awe at the adorable pleated mint green and pink skirt. The boyish tie was also pink, with a white short sleeve dress shirt and a sleeveless sweater vest. Mr. Inoguchi laughs at his daughter's reaction and kissed her forehead, he looks up at her clock and reminds her to get ready for bed. Once her father left Ritoru went to the bathroom to take a shower, brush her teeth, and finally settled in for bed. Hours later a brand new day had begun, little birds began to chirp and cars began to move about for work. Suddenly the sound of tapping feet could be heard on the ground, it was Nagisa making her way towards Yui and Ritoru's neighborhood. Once there, Nagisa made her way up Yui's house stairs and knocked on the door with a bright smiles adorn on her lips. Yui's dad answers the door and before he could say good morning to her, his overly excited daughter pushes past him already dressed for school! He shook his head and went back inside. The two girls squealed and joined hands spinning in a joyful circle. Nagisa stops spinning with her friend and replies:



Nagisa: Oh my gosh! The uniform looks so much better on us, than it does on a hanger!  *laughs happily*

Yui: They sure do! the skirt is my favorite part of the uniform, the sweater vest makes us look cooler! You get what I mean?

Nagisa: Yeah, It does make us more mature I guess...but I don't understand why we're wearing short sleeves
and a sleeveless vest during the fall.

Yui: I didn't get that either, but I heard on the tv it's going to be hot all this week!

Nagisa: In September?!  I'm not complaining, I'm not ready for the cold anyway. *throws arms behind her head*

Yui: I'm not ready for the cold either! Oh wait, let's go get Ritters up and walk to school together!



Nagisa nods and trots with Yui next door. The lavender haired girl rings the doorbell and waits patiently for someone to answer. The sounds of footsteps comes closer, then to a sudden hault as Mrs. Inoguchi answers the door. Her eyes widen brightly with delight seeing how adorable the two girls looked in their new school uniforms! She invites them in and offers them a hot cup of green tea as they wait for Ritoru. Everyone was unaware that Ritoru was still in bed snoring away in dreamland! Nagisa looks at the clock on the wall and it reads 7:09am, she stands up and walks to the bottom of the stairs wondering why there was no movement present. Yui then walks over and does the same. They curiously went upstairs heading towards the back bedroom, Yui slowly pushes the door open seeing the sleeping Ritoru hugging her pillow. Nagisa darts into Ritoru's room pouncing on her! The little raven hair girl bounces happily on her friend's back singing playfully "Wake up Ritters! We got school!" Ritoru was still processing what just happened and groans, Nagisa was always the one tightly hugging or jumping on someone when she's excited! The sleepy head girl rubs her eyes and looks up at her. Yui walks over and picks happy-go-lucky Nagisa off their late rising friend. Ritoru yawns and scratches her messy pink hair, she noticed that they were wearing the uniform and how pretty they looked in them! She smiles brightly and asked what time it was.

Nagisa picks up the table side clock reading the time, it was now 7:20am! Ritoru's red eyes widen in disbelief, she dashes out of bed and into the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. The two girls looked at each other and shrugged, it seemed like their friend was repeating a pattern...she did the same thing eighth grade year. Ritoru came back into the room out of breath searching in her drawers for her school sock frantically, throwing everything behind her! Yui turns her head and raises the pair of white thigh-high stocking, they were folded neatly on the trunk in front of her bed. Yui called out to her once her attention was given she waved the socks and laughs nervously. Ritoru rubs her nape in embarrassment, she began to undress and put on her uniform little at a time while Nagisa went over and put her friends clothes back in the drawers neatly. Sitting at her vanity Ritoru brushes and combed her hair. Once she was finished, she tied her hair up in two lower ponytails with neon green ribbons. Nagisa gave her a thumbs up and a wink, she though Ritoru always looked really cute with her bright ribbons! The three girls head downstairs and rushed to the front door, when they all were suddenly stopped by Mr. Inoguchi. They all turn to Ritoru's mom wondering what she wanted, she walks over and hands the three pints size apple juice boxes and soft breakfast granola bars! The woman smiled "I know all of you are excited for the first day, but breakfast always comes first! Have a great first day, I'm proud of all three of you!~" Ritoru, Nagisa and Yui smiles brightly at her with their cheeks covered in a soft blush. They waved good bye and headed out the door towards the main road. Nagisa began to bite into her granola bar and cheered happily:



Nagisa: Your mom is really nice Ritters, she sent us out to school with food!

Yui: Yep, Ino-mama is really thoughtful, she doesn't wanna sees anyone go out to work or school without food! *sips juice*

Ritoru: My mom get angry if I don't eat breakfast before leaving the house, so she either cooks or pulls something
out the pantry that I can eat on the go. *rubs her nape*

Nagisa: I was so excited this morning, I left the house before I could eat with my family..and it smelled so good!

Yui: I heard your step mom is a really good cook at the outlet she works at!

Nagisa: No...please don't call her my step mom, I love my dad's new wife, she much nicer than my own mom *laughs happily*

Yui and Ritoru: *become quiet from Nagisa's comment*

Nagisa: Oh stop it guys! it's the truth, my blood mom was a witch and just left my dad for someone else...I was happy
that my dad met someone who loves him for who he is and loves me as her own! That's a real mom no matter what!

Ritoru: That's a lovely way to put things Nagi-chan! I'm glad she makes your family feel like it should!

Yui: Speaking of which, didn't your mom recently have a baby? *gets excited*

Nagisa: She sure did! I have baby brother named Sho! He's soooooooo cute, mom let me hold him yesterday after she
was done feed and burping him...though to be honest, I didn't know you could feed a baby with your boob...



Yui and Ritoru laughed hard and loud! They didn't feel that statement coming and it was too hilarious, this moment was the gold for the beginning of their school year! Yui finally got herself together and wipes her eyes, she couldn't wait to tell the twins what just happened. Nagisa on the other hand was not amused, she didn't get why a statement like that was funny then she thought about it. Nagisa ends up laughing at her own statement and face palms herself, the laughter becomes contagious and causes the other two girls to laughs again! While the trio of friends were laughing, a few older students began to look at them and chatter. Yui then notices a boy among those older classmen, she squints and realizes it was her older brother with a few of those annoying girls who follow him around! The lavender hair girl yells out her brother's name...he heard her, but didn't stop. Nagisa folds her arms and grumbles "Geez, Ranmaru is really mean to you when he's around his friends!" Ritoru nodded in agreement and held Yui hand who was looking down sadly.

The trio fianlly made it around the corner and saw the huge magnificent building of Midorikawa Gakuen! Their mood was once again blissful. The three cheered and ran up the pathway that was starting to fill with other students. Once they got to the courtyard, Nagisa stopped and blushed in delight cooing over all the cute boys that were walking around! Ritoru and Yui were also infatuated with all the good looking boys and cover their faces. Suddenly Ritoru was bumped harshly by a boy's school bag, he didn't seem to be paying attention since he had a book in his face. Nagisa screamed to get the guys attention "Hey, you bumped someone jerk!" The boy stopped in his tracks and turned around. Yui, Nagisa and Ritoru faces turned into a aggressive red blush, this boy was positively gorgeous! His eyes were a mint green and his hair was medium length, light brown and tied in salmon colored ribbon. He fixes his glasses and smiled at the girls, bowing in respect of the girls he said "I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of my surrounding due to my book...please excuse me!" The young man turns around and walks off, the three turns to one another:



Nagisa: Whoa! He's was waaaaaaaaay cute, I feel bad for yelling at him like that!

Yui: That's not just any cute guy, That's principal Inoue's son. *she nudges Nagisa playfully*

Nagisa: How do you know that's her son?

Yui: Because, I saw her the other day in the mall shopping with him, they look alike!

Ritoru: N-No way...is he in our grade?!

Nagisa: He looks older than us to be a freshman...but it's possible...

Yui: Why, do you like him Ritters? You were staring into his soul like you found the man of your dreams!

Ritoru: W-Whatever, you guys were staring like deer in headlights too! *blushes angrily*

Nagisa: I'll admit it. But, since we know his last name we're one step closer to figuring out his first name

Ritoru: I-I guess you're right Nagi-chan...but we got bigger things to worry about beside him. Before we do anything about
Inoue-san let's get through the day!

Yui: But you were the one who was asking frantically about if he was in our grade...

Ritoru: What's the got to do with anything? *folds arms pouting*

Nagisa and Yui: Everything! *smiles at each and runs off*



Ritoru blushed deeply and ran after her mischievous friends. The running came to a halt when they see a female teacher holding her arms around. The woman folded her arms with a smile and asked "What grade are you ladies in?" The girls responded in unison that they were ninth graders. She pointed to where a ginormous number of student stood in line, the opening ceremony's speech was about to begin! Once all the student were in line, a woman with light brown hair and eyes stood at a podium smiling brightly at the crowd of students! She began welcoming the students back to school and gave a warm happy welcome to all the freshman. The older classmen roared and clap to welcome their new classmates!  Once the cheering calmed down, a familiar face stepped to the podium...It was the boy from earlier! He smiles brightly and begins his welcoming speeches aimed towards all the freshman and how delighted he was to have new classmates. A girl that stood in line adjacent to Nagisa folded her hand and stared in dream like state "Wow, Nobutaka has such a way with words!" Nagisa giggled and poked Ritoru whispering in her ear slyly "You heard that girl, we got his name now..." The pink haired girl's face breaks out in red.

Finally the opening ceremony comes to an end, the students went into the building through the 4 pairs of double doors. Ritoru and her friends walked around when suddenly Nagisa squeals and takes of running! In confusion the girls run after her wondering what has gotten into her, The raven hair girl ends up glomping a familiar red head to the floor. The other two running girls stopped and caught their breath and saw who she was screaming about, Yui smiled faintly and waved as did Ritoru. The girl with red hair sat up and snuggled onto Nagisa, her twin on the other hand was quite startled! Standing up and dusting herself off she greeted she waved happily at her friends. They formed a circle holding hands enjoy that wondrous feeling of being reunited in the same school! Behind the girls the could hear foot steps then an obnoxious laughter, When they five turned around they saw a girl with silver hair and purple eyes. Nagisa squint and spoke flatly:



Nagisa: Oh boy, look what the cat dragged in....it's Chizuru from middle school.

Chizuru: That's right it's me, Ohohohoho!~ *she hold the back of her hands to her lips*

Yui, Ritoru and Kaname: Here we go... *sweat drops*

Ayame: G-Good morning Chizuru-chan...how are you today?

Chizuru: Just wonderful!~ Thank you for asking Ayame..I did like you more than your silly little friends why do you
bother hanging out with such immature little girls?

Nagisa: Immature little girls?! We're all the same age...so wouldn't that make you a little girl too?

Chizuru: Ahaha! Of course we are, but you're a tiny bit shorter so I was referring to you!

Yui: E-Easy Nagi...just calm down and-

Nagisa: Ugh, Lemme at her! I'll tear daddy's little princess into two! *is being held back by Yui*

Ayame: Chizuru, that's not polite at all...i-it's nice to see you again, but I'm gonna go now.



The other five girls walk off anxiously away from Chizuru towards the bulletin board. Ever since middle school the girl was always pretty means to them but more so Nagisa, it seems they were a favorite people to mess with. Nagisa sighed and begins to look on the bulletin board for her homeroom when suddenly Yui squealed out "Hey I'm in 2-A, what about you guys?!" Kaname replies happily "Oh my gosh, me too!" Ritoru continues to look frantically for hers and sighs "Oh that sucks, I got 3-A...am I alone?" Nagisa laughed jumping up and down "Alright! guess you're stuck with me Ritters, I'm in 3-A too!" The four girls sighed in relief, though they were in different homeroom classes they were still together in a familiar pair! They looks patiently for Ayame to find her name, the red haired girl smiles happily turning to her twin and her friends with great news. "I'm in 2-A with my sister and Yui!" Everyone sighed again in unison, the weight and worry was finally off their backs. Their moment of silent was broken by the sound of homeroom's bell! The twins and Yui head toward their class that was right next to their friends waving. The other two girls smiled at each other and opened classroom 3-A's door, the class had so many new cheerful faces...everyone was quite friendly. Nagisa eyes scanned around until she sees the principal's son sitting in the middle of the classroom reading his book! She tugs on Ritoru and points at him slightly "There's your dream boy Ritters!~"The pink haired girl's flushed red as her eyes began to glisten, maybe today was going in the right direction after all. Nagisa nudges her and tells her she should go over and say hi, of course Ritoru freaks out and goes the other direction to a pair of empty seats by the window! Nagisa sits behind her and pulls out cotton candy lollipop from her bag mumbling "Well, at least we know he's in our grade." Ritoru nods and peaks over shyly to see if he was still reading. Nobutaka fixed his glasses and turned to the window seeing that the two girls were staring at him! Nagisa took cover with her blue floral binder hiding she and Ritoru's blushing faces...how embarrassing! Nobutaka laughed softly to himself and continued to read.

Just then a woman with black hair wearing a floral blouse and navy blue skirt walks in their homeroom and introduces herself to the class. The woman was know as Ms. Himura, she was a sweet and gentle woman and loved having new students to teach. At the most random time the door flung open and a silver haired girl walked in a bit late, It was Chizuru who was holding a bento pouch in her hand. "I'm sorry I'm late, My mother came by to drop off my lunch!" She smiled up to her teacher, Ms. Himura smiled warmly and excused her lately and asked her who she was. The uppity girl puts on fake innocent facade and curtsy to her teacher and classmates "I'm Chizuru Shirogane, it's very nice to meet everyone..I hope we all can become great friends!" The boys in the class began to gawk at her, she was automatically considered the cutest by them since she seemed so sweet and gentle. Ritoru turns to Nagisa and was very frighten by her facial expression, the raven haired girl drops her head on the desk mumbling "Oh, f*ck me..." Nagisa rarely cursed, in her opinion today just went from awesome to horrible! Chizuru sees the irritated girl and snicker behind her hand, she trots over and sits adjacent from her and it caused Nagisa to yell "uh-uh, sit somewhere else!" This statement got the entire class plus the teacher's attention, Ms Himura scolds Nagisa for being rude and asked her to be nicer to Chizuru. Once everything was settled Ms. Himura called roll and began teaching her morning lesson. Meanwhile in a kingdom in another dimension, a young princess storms around her family's throne room angrily! A young butler known as Lovelace stood nervously by her throne, he asked calmly as he could: 



Lovelace: Lady Sweetheart, what is troubling y-you if I may ask? *sweat nervously*

Sweetheart: You won't believe me even if I told you Lovelace...I can't use magic!

Lovelace: Oh my word! You can't be serious princess, you just had it the other day.

Sweetheart: I WOULDN'T BE WALKING AROUND ANGRILY IF I WASN'T SERIOUS RAPHAEL! MY GOODNESS, WHY ME: THE MOST
BEAUTIFUL, GRACEFUL AND FAIREST PRINCESS IN THE KINGDOM OF SWEETS GETS HER POWERS TAKEN AWAY!?

Lovelace: I-If you don't mind me asking Princess...who exactly took your magic from you? 

Sweetheart: Who else...Queen Amour, my stupid mom! She told me that she will explain it to me later...

Lovelace: Ah, do not fret my lady. Once the queen explains why she did what this, you'll be able to get your magic back!

Sweetheart: I hope so, it's probably a stupid reason too! *laughs and wipes tears from eyes*

Lovelace: Perhaps, do you know what you did to get it taken away?

Sweetheart: Oh my goodness Butler Lovelace. I do love you so dearly my friend but, you ask a lot of stupid questions...OF COURSE NOT, I'M ALWAYS GETTING IN TROUBLE FOR NO REASON!



The young man flinched at the angry girl. He fixed his pince nez glasses and sighed heavily, he always did his best not to get his dear princess angry with him. Enough was enough, a sudden yell flooded the palace walls from above. Princess Sweetheart sighed heavily looking at Lovelace grumpily, he shrugs and escorted her out the throne room and into the main hall. Before the duo could get to the stairs a maid stood before them and bowed "My lady, you are being called by the queen." Sweetheart squints her eyes and follows the maid upstairs with Lovelace trotting behind as well. Several minutes pass and they reached the king and queen's business quarters, the maid opened the door and lets them in. Queen Amour stood by her desk and held her hand up as if asking them to stop, she politely asks lovelace to step out while she chats with her daughter. The butler bows and leaves the room as asked, once the door was closed the queen folds her arms and scolds her daughter for her recent rude behavior! Princess Sweetheart sighed heavily and looks down apologizing for the way she's been, she folds her hands and bats her eyelashes asking to have her magic back...of course her mother told her no.

Sweetheart's jaw dropped feeling extremely angry, she asks why she couldn't get it back. Her mother bellowed "I say no because, you have been acting like a spoiled, untrained, rogue princess! You have to prove to the sorceress queen and the sorceress council that you are worthy of your magic." Sweetheart blankly stares at the woman asking confusingly "Aren't you the sorceress queen?" Queen Amour flusters and turns her head, she is the sorceress queen but has been in and out on her duties since she married to the king. The queen clapped her hands together and smiled brightly, she had a plan up her sleeves to teach her daughter a lesson in return for giving back her powers! The confused princess raised her eyebrow and asked flatly "What are you planning mom?" The woman put her hands on her hips "As much as I hate doing this, you are prohibited to use magic...that's why I took it from you. If you do this task for me you will be able to have what you desire. " The young lady's eyes glistened with happiness, she continued to listen to what the queen had to say and dropped her head quickly after the explanation! Princess Sweetheart groaned as she was dismissed from the study, she thought to herself how in the world do you teach a normal girl to be a princess? Butler Lovelace walks over to her, he was deeply concerned about the little lady: 



Lovelace: Princess, are you alright...tell me what happened.

Sweetheart: Raphael...My mom wants to give me back my magic by teaching me a lesson and having me teach
others a lesson! *whines and folds arms*

Lovelace: Oh? What on earth could that be...mind elaborating this matter over a cup of peppermint tea?

Sweetheart: Alright, can we have it in the garden...I feel that was can talk better about things out doors
and it's a beautiful day.

Lovelace: Indeed it is my lady! I will meet you in the garden momentarily, I have to start the kettle and will serve you there.



The green haired butler smiles softly and heads down to the kitchen to prepare the tea. Moments later the butler came to the garden with a silver tray, he began to place the spoons, porcelain saucers, cups, and sugar bowl on the cafe size table. Lovelace picks up the small floral pot and pours the hot liquid carefully, the romantic sweet smell from the freshly brew peppermint leaves put a smile on Sweetheart's lips. Lovelace sits across from her and pours himself a cup with two sugars wanting to know what happened, the princess stirred her tea and began to explain the proposal on getting back her powers.
